A vulnerability in Cisco HyperFlex Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to generate valid, signed session tokens. The vulnerability is due to a static signing key that is present in all Cisco HyperFlex systems. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by accessing the static signing key from one HyperFlex system and using it to generate valid, signed session tokens for another HyperFlex system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to access the HyperFlex Web UI of a system for which they are not authorized. Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability. This vulnerability affects Cisco HyperFlex Software releases prior to 3.5(1a).
To determine the installed release of Cisco HyperFlex Software an administrator may use either the CLI or the GUI.
Using the CLI, the administrator can issue the stcli about command. The following example shows the output of the command for a device that is running Cisco HyperFlex Software Release 3.0(1d):

Using the GUI, the administrator can click the About link on the bottom left of the page after logging in to HXConnect.
Only products listed in the Vulnerable Products section of this advisory are known to be affected by this vulnerability.
There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.
Cisco has released free software updates that address the vulnerability described in this advisory. Customers may only install and expect support for software versions and feature sets for which they have purchased a license.
