The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input by the affected software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted authenticated commands to the web-based management interface of the affected software. This vulnerability affects Cisco UCS C-Series and S-Series Servers in Standalone mode that are running Cisco IMC Software prior to the first fixed releases of 3.0 and 4.0.

Cisco has released free software updates that address the vulnerability described in this advisory. Customers may only install and expect support for software versions and feature sets for which they have purchased a license.
