A vulnerability in the Umbrella Connector component of Cisco IOS XE Software for Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series Switches could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to trigger a reload, resulting in a denial of service condition on an affected device. The vulnerability is due to insufficient error handling when parsing DNS requests. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a series of malicious DNS requests to an Umbrella Connector client interface of an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause a crash of the iosd process, which triggers a reload of the affected device. This vulnerability affects Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series Switches if they are running Cisco IOS XE Software releases 16.12.1 or 16.12.2 and have the Umbrella Integration feature enabled. The Umbrella Integration feature is not enabled in Cisco IOS XE Software by default.
For the Umbrella Integration to be properly enabled on a device, both of the following conditions must be true:
Administrators can check the Umbrella Integration configuration using the show umbrella config | below Interface Config command, looking for the following lines:
If both lines list a count of at least one (1), the device is vulnerable. If either count is zero, if the command does not return any output, or if the command does not exist, the Umbrella Integration is not properly configured and the device is not affected by the vulnerability described in this advisory.

Customers may only install and expect support for software versions and feature sets for which they have purchased a license.
