Cisco Identity Services Engine Guest User Account Exhaustion Vulnerability

Related Vulnerabilities: CVE-2013-5521

A vulnerability in Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to exhaust guest user account resources. The vulnerability is due to a guest account creation page that allows unlimited guest accounts to be created upon refreshing the page. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a new guest account then repeatedly refreshing the page until the maximum number of guest accounts for the system is reached. An exploit could allow the attacker to deny creation of other guest accounts. Cisco confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice and released software updates. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would likely need access to trusted, internal networks and access to the guest account creation page from the targeted device to create new guest accounts. These access requirements limit the likelihood of a successful exploit. Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists; however, the code is not known to be publicly available.
