Cisco Unity Connection Directory Traversal Vulnerability

Related Vulnerabilities: CVE-2014-2145

A vulnerability in the messaging API of Cisco Unity Connection could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to execute a directory traversal and download arbitrary files that match the allowed MIME types. The vulnerability occurs because there is insufficient input filtering and file types other than .wav are allowed. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by requesting a wave file download. An exploit could allow the attacker to obtain access to files on the system that match the allowed MIME types. Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice and released software updates. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must authenticate to the targeted device. This access requirement decreases the likelihood of a successful exploit. Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists; however, the code is not known to be publicly available.
