Cisco Small Business SPA300 and SPA500 Series IP Phones Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the web user interface of the Cisco Small Business SPA300 and SPA500 Series IP Phones could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to click a crafted URL. Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice and released software updates. To exploit the vulnerability, the attacker may provide a link that directs a user to a malicious site and use misleading language or instructions to persuade the user to follow the provided link. Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists; however, the code is not known to be publicly available.
