Hi,
the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures) id was
published for libnids.
CVE-2010-1144[0]:
| A vulnerability has been reported in Libnids, which can be exploited by
| malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
|
| The vulnerability is caused due to a NULL pointer dereference error in
| src/ip_fragment.c, which can be exploited to crash an application using the
| library by sending specially crafted network traffic.
If you fix the vulnerability please also make sure to include the
CVE id in your changelog entry.
I extracted the patch from the diff to the new version, attached.

BTW I only filed this as important as the only application in Debian which
seems to use this lib is dsniff and in this case it's not really an important
issue.
Cheers

This doesn't warrant a DSA, but you could still fix this through a stable
point update. If you want to do this, please get in touch with the stable
release managers: <debian-release@lists.debian.org>.
Cheers,
Moritz

retitle 576281 libnids: CVE-2010-0751 null pointer dereference
thanks
There was a mistake on the CVE id assignment, please do not refer to this bug
using CVE-2010-1144 but CVE-2010-0751 instead.
Cheers
